Echoes of the Forgotten Isle

Echoes of the Forgotten Isle is a third-person action-adventure experience centered around immersive sound. The player explores a vast open-world island featuring coastal shores, lush plains, cascading waterfalls, snowy tundras, and a central lake. Each area has a distinct acoustic identity, allowing players to differentiate environments both visually and aurally—through birdsong, wind textures, and terrain-based footstep sounds.

Built using Unity, the project leverages Wwise for its dynamic music system and integrates Google Resonance for audio spatialization. To fully experience the depth of directional sound and immersive cues, players are encouraged to use headphones and enable Windows Sonic or Dolby Atmos on their systems.

The game features a fully interactive audio system where:

• Footstep SFX change based on terrain (grass, rock, sand)
• Weapon impacts vary by enemy material
• Enemies emit unique attack and movement sounds
• A trap chest activates and deactivates with distinctive audio cues
• Music transitions dynamically between exploration and combat states, inspired by The Witcher 3’s adaptive soundtrack structure
• Ambient sounds shift between day and night—crickets and silence replace daytime breezes, while music fades out at dusk and re-emerges with daylight

🎼 Music Design Highlights:

• Modal transitions: Dorian for exploration, Phrygian for tension and combat
• Neofolk orchestral style: medieval strings, dulcimer, tribal percussion, atmospheric synths
• Seamless progression from soft melodies to intense combat cues using real-time game parameters
• Ethnic vocal elements deepen the fantasy setting
